As a towed artillery system, it provides highly mobile, rapidly deployable, all weather, and precision-capable fire support with variable effects.
SAL provides Close Combat Marines with an aiming laser that accurately identifies targets and provides low light/night target engagement out to ranges where Marines can accurately identify a man-sized target.
